How do they do it? Green Analytics demos some of the science behind natural asset inventories

MNAI has now worked with more than 90 communities in their natural asset management journeys, and all of them started their journeys with the critical first step of taking an inventory of their natural assets.

In building the inventories, you can imagine how complicated it would be to count every tree, stream or pond, so we work with Green Analytics that uses its technical data expertise to provide a comprehensive and complete picture of the assets.

Why is this data important? And how can it help local governments and land managers determine what decisions to make? Amy Taylor explains and shows us an example.

What’s the science and data behind building an inventory of natural assets for local governments and land owners? Hear and see an example from Amy Taylor, owner and employee of Green Analytics, a consulting firm that specializes in data analytics, environmental economics, and software development.

In the future, Amy says artificial intelligence, drones and data from people’s cell phones will help her team collect more location-specific data. This will help communities make even more informed decisions – especially in the face of greater extreme weather events – whether that’s enhancing, conserving or constructing natural assets to increase their climate resiliency and adaptation.
