Natural Infrastructure is an Integral Part of Green Recovery

Municipalities across the country are feeling the impacts of COVID-19 in unprecedented ways.  To help communities recover and rehabilitate, MNAI is 1 of 43 influential organizations that signed a letter to the Prime Minister, calling for the federal government to accelerate natural infrastructure rehabilitation, restoration and management projects that deliver both short-term economic stimulus and long-term resilience. MNAI also developed a separate, more specific proposal to the Government of Canada describing how we could deploy our methodology as part of any larger investment in natural infrastructure. This would help local governments plan and design effective projects for funding, including under existing programs such as the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF) and the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
