Port of Vancouver, British Columbia

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is the federal agency responsible for the stewardship of the lands and waters that make up the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest port. The Port Authority has several interests in natural asset management. At an overarching level, the Port Authority’s vision is for the Port of Vancouver to be the world’s most sustainable port, and has defined “a sustainable port” as one which delivers economic prosperity through trade, maintains a healthy environment, and enables thriving communities. More specifically, the Port Authority wants to better understand what natural assets they are responsible for, services the assets provide, and to whom. This report includes the natural asset inventory, condition assessment, risk identification and recommended next steps for the Port Authority to strengthen NAM at an organization level and steps to consider towards a full NAM strategy.
